About us

Kids quiz the pope scan cropThis site was originally set up to create a blast of joyful noise in anticipation of the state visit of His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI, to the United Kingdom in the autumn of 2010.

The papal visit on the 16th to 19th September, 2010, was the first ever state visit of a pope to this country, and children up and down the country were waiting, excitedly, to catch a glimpse of this much-loved leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

While a few children were lucky enough to meet Pope Benedict face to face at St Mary’s University College, Strawberry Hill, most children were only able to follow the events on television.

So, this blog site is for all those primary school children who did not get to meet or greet the pope in person, but who dearly wanted to ask the questions burning within them.

The majority of the questions posted on this site are the fruits of a short talk about the pope – who he is, what he does, and his visit to the UK – given to children at liturgy groups and at a local Catholic primary school.

A huge thank you to all the children who participated in ‘Kids Quiz the Pope’. What fabulous questions!
